Cumulative WASHLET® shipments have now passed 70 million units

WASHLET continue to grow around the world, offering new value propositions that support health

 

TOTO LTD. (Headquartered in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan; President: Shinya Tamura) is pleased to announce that cumulative shipments of its "WASHLET”※1,the electric toilet seat with bidet function surpassed 70 million units in November 2025 (total of seat-type and WASHLET integrated toilets, Japan and overseas combined). Since its launch in June 1980, 45 years and five months later, the product has been adopted for a variety of purposes, including residential and public restrooms※2. Demand is also growing further in overseas markets, including the Americas, Europe, and Asia, where the company continues to promote the product in a way that is rooted in each region. Additionally, "NEOREST LS-W/AS-W," released in August 2025, adds a function that uses a sensor to scan droppings and measures the condition of the stool in conjunction with an app, proposing new value through "supporting health journey."

Progression of Cumulative WASHLET units shipped

NEOREST LS-W / NEOREST AS-WNEOREST LS-W/AS-W, released in August 2025, is part of the NEOREST series of WASHLET integrated toilets that combine design and function at an advanced level. The stool scanning sensor built into the WASHLET automatically measures the shape (hardness), color, and amount of stool as it falls during use. The measured data is sent to the TOTO Wellness app, which provides information on the condition and trends of daily bowel movements, as well as lifestyle awareness. TOTO proposes "Daily Wellness," a healthy habit that can be maintained effortlessly and naturally.

WASHLET® sales expand worldwide

Sales in overseas regions

Overseas sales of WASHLET began in the United States in the late 1980s. Pursuing the lifestyles, cultures, and design preferences of each country, we now have bases in 18 countries and regions and sell our products in over 100 countries. Demand for WASHLET is increasing, particularly in the Americas, Asia/Oceania, and Europe, which are identified as growth segments in the TOTO Group's shared value creation strategy, "TOTO WILL2030." In 2019, when the cumulative total reached 50 million units, the overseas sales ratio was approximately 27%, but in the most recent year of 2024, the overseas sales ratio will exceed 30%. In particular, the Americas has seen the highest growth rate over the past five years. Since entering the market, we have been steadily promoting WASHLET by providing opportunities for people to try them out, in order to expand our sales channels. We are currently in the popularization phase, and are seeing significant growth thanks to the development of social media, the increase in inbound tourism, and the sudden rise in awareness of cleanliness after COVID-19. We will continue to strive to further expand the places where we can purchase our products, including our main channels, building material stores (Kitchen & Bath Shop), e-commerce, and large retailers, as well as to improve our services, including maintenance and repairs.

After-service to boost WASHLET🄬 sales

Scene from “World Service Masters”As WASHLET sales expand overseas, the need for improved repair skills and service is also increasing. We are focusing on improving the skills of our service staff so that we can provide our customers with the same after-service system as in Japan. We continue to work to ensure that appropriate repairs and service based on TOTO standards can be provided anywhere in the world. As part of this, we are holding the "World Service Masters" in 2023, in which service staff from around the world participate, with the aim of continuing to hone their repair and customer service skills and helping each other improve.
